Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites you to a day-long national conference on Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste and Dust Management – learning from good practices and on-ground experiences from across the country.
The conference will be bringing together key stakeholders from across the country and from related institutions and agencies in the construction sector. The issues and subjects it would cover include dust control measures, municipal bye-laws, source segregation, collection and transportation, user fees, treatment technologies, prevention of illegal dumping, re-utilisation of waste, and advanced mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance at construction sites, recycling plants and during hauling of waste and materials. The focus will be on sensitising participants about on-ground challenges, practical learning about on-site management of C&D waste and dust, as well as city-wide strategies for segregation, collection, transport and recycling.
The conference comes at an opportune moment. C&D waste management has been the focus of many central policies and programmes (such as the National Clean Air Programme and Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0). Leveraging this opportunity is critical to build circularity. The year 2024 is a crucial year as some of these programmes are nearing their milestones.
CSE has been working with many states to build regulatory and stakeholder capacity on C&D waste management. This conference is expected to further strengthen the stakeholder network for knowledge dissemination to inform implementation in India.
