National Level Conference on Sanitation Workers in Lucknow

The CSE team of Water Programme Support for FSSM in UP has attended and gave the presentation in National Level Conference on ‘Sanitation Workers’. The event was organized in Lucknow on 11th Aug, 2019 by the State Sanitation Workers Commission (U.P.). The event was attended by organizations representing sanitation workers in different states of the country.

This was a national level event including the participants such as state sanitation workers representatives from across the country including Chairman, SC ST Social Welfare Finance Commission, Chairman of State Sanitation Workers Commission, Vice Chairman of Dr Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and representative of State Women Sanitation Workers Association. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest - Hon. Minister Social Welfare (U.P.) Shri Ramapati Shastri.

In this event, CSE team has briefed everyone about the urgent need of addressing the need for convergence between NULM,Social Welfare Dept.,National Sanitation Workers Commission,State SC and ST Finance Commission andDoUD related to the issues of urban poor’s and women equity insanitation. In addition to this, the CSE team has also advocated the need for the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), Training and capacity building for mechanized desludging. 

The CSE has also presented the report on “Managing the Septage in 66 cities of Uttar Pradesh” to Hon. Minister Social Welfare U.P. Apart from this, the CSE team has made an announcement of an upcoming training and workshop for De-sludgers and Masons at Chunar, Bijnor and Lucknow
