National Training Programme: Implementing India's Renewable Energy Programme

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) and the School of Climate Change under Anil Agarwal Environment Training Institute (AAETI) invites applications for its specialised training programme designed for government agencies and civil society organisations involved in implementing renewable energy programmes in India.

This one-of-its-kind training will aim to fill the gaps between policies, implications and expectations by building a strong practice base with the knowledge, skills and attitude required for planning, designing and implementing centralised and decentralised renewable energy projects.

Some of the key points of discussion and learning that the training will offer:

• State of RE or renewable energy (global and national)
• Role of RE in mitigating climate change
• Status of energy access and distributed renewables, including solar rooftop, solar agricultural pumps, mini-grids, picoequipment, etc
• Key challenges hampering large scale deployment of renewables
• Role of renewables in livelihood generation
• Case studies and best practices (participants would be welcome to showcase their own projects as well)
• Practical ways of implementing RE projects for maximising benefits for stakeholders

Who will the training benefit?
Decision-makers from government agencies, including national and state renewable energy development agencies, power distribution companies, municipalities, other government implementers, and civil society organisations working in renewables

Methodology
Classroom presentations and lectures by subject experts, brainstorming sessions, discussions on case studies, quizzes and exercises
