WATER SUPPLY SOURCE
The water requirement is met by one tube well located near the parking and is supplemented by municipal supply. On an average 50,000 litres of water is consumed daily for potable and non-potable purposes.
RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM
Rooftop rainwater harvesting: Rooftop water from the club building flows on the drive way along with surface runoff from paved areas. This water is collected in a collection chamber of size 0.6 m x 0.6 m which is covered with a perforated slab and is placed in a low lying area so that the water can naturally flow into the collection chamber. Rainwater from this chamber is diverted into a recharge well measuring 2 m x 2 m x 2 m. This recharge well is provided with a 20 m deep recharge bore of 150 mm diameter to facilitate the movement of rainwater to the subsoil strata. The recharge well is also provided with layers of pebbles and coarse sand for filtration purpose. Implementation of this project was completed in January 2004, and the water level as in January 2005 was around 24.5 m below ground level (bgl).
Cost of the rainwater harvesting system: Rs 0.40 lakh
