Dear readers,

Extreme weather events increasing in intensity in Africa and only 13 cities in Africa are C40 cities — cities committed to taking measurable climate action. Earth’s surface mass in August 2020 deviated from average for all months between 2004 and 2009 explained spatial variations in the rate of sea-level rise between 1993 and 2018 and study reports that brown carbon ‘tarballs’ hasten glacial melt found in Himalayan atmosphere but the good news is interventions such as weather advisories that drive farmers’ income up to 50%.

Biden winning US elections 2020 shows how clean air, climate inaction influence domestic politics. Sunita Narain, Director General of the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) writes, Biden has a transformational challenge, however President Biden will put US back on Obama’s climate trajectory stated John Holdren, science advisor to Obama administration in a video interview. Nikolas Hohnen founding partner of the Berlin based think tank New Climate Institute says that the effects of getting the US back on track can be magnified by its example and its role on international negotiations against climate change.

Though registration is closed, join us for the next training programme (to be announced) on the science, politics and impacts of climate change.
