March 9 - March 15, 2021
Dear readers,

NASA maps show, planet greening negated global warming. Whereas a UN report finds that the world is not on the track to green recovery. Between 1952 and 2011, summer duration increased to 95 from 78 days. In winters, it decreased to 73 from 76 days.

In New Zealand, for those living in highly exposed places, managed retreat may be necessary to save lives and secure public safety. At home, in India, the Chamoli glacier burst  happened due to a changing climate and human errors.

Meanwhile, a third of global greenhouse gas emissions from food production and carbon border agreements are in many ways modern instruments of imperialism that punish developing nations for making slower progress towards greening their economies.

For clean cooking, can we think beyond LPG? An increase in India’s green cover can help meet its Paris Agreement commitments and reduce toxic emissions in the atmosphere. Working towards solutions, the Climate Change Programme at CSE have their onsite training programme ‘Mainstreaming Climate Change towards COP-26 and Beyond’ starting next week.
