July 21 – July 27, 2021
Dear readers,

Climate change is causing extreme rainfall in Goa and Maharashtra, and erratic rains in Bihar. Meanwhile West Bengal and Bangladesh received about two million lightning strikes.

Climate change has hit the poorest in many countries, and to address this there is a need for rich countries to abandon fossil fuels like coal, says COP 26 President Alok Sharma.

On the renewable energy front, we learn about how the adoption and promotion of renewable energy in India is the need of the hour from an economic and sustainability perspective.

To make sense of these trends, join our upcoming online training programme: An Introduction to Climate Change: Science, Politics and Impacts.

CSE’s recently launched book Climate Change: Science and Politics can be bought online from the CSE store, and the e-book - State of India’s Environment 2021: In Figures is available on the DTE website.
