Dear readers,
Earlier this month, the UN’s climate science body, the IPCC published a groundbreaking report on the future of climate change – it represents a call to action, according to Sunita Narain. The report found that we may exhaust our carbon budget in a decade without rapid emissions cuts, and believes that indigenous knowledge will be key in this fight. It also produced specific insights for Africa and Indian cities. Some of its insights can be visualized through NASA’s new tool.
We also learn how rising wet bulb temperatures due to climate change can pose health risks for humans.
On the renewable energy front, India hits 100 GW of renewable energy, the Delhi government is successfully installing rooftop solar on schools, and renewable-rich states are facing system integration issues.
