OCTOBER 2023

Dear Educators, FOREWORD

Greetings from the Green Educators’ Network (GEN) of the Centre for Science and Environment!

We are pleased to extend a warm welcome to you as we introduce ‘EarthWise’ — the monthly CSE-GEN newsletter. EarthWise is more than just a newsletter; it's a platform designed to empower you with the latest insights, research, and resources in the realm of sustainability and environmental conservation. In each edition, you can look forward to thought-provoking articles, cutting-edge research, teaching resources, and case studies that you can seamlessly integrate into your curriculum.

This month, we want to draw your attention to a pressing global concern: the menace of plastics. From clogging our oceans and harming marine life to filling landfills with non-biodegradable waste, the pervasive use of plastics has far-reaching consequences. This month’s newsletter features an article from our network member, Dr. Astha Saxena, on the issue. In order to enrich further discussions, the second CSE-GEN Lecture in our monthly series Environmentally Speaking, Closing the loop: On plastic, its management and global negotiations around it will be held on October 25, 2023 from 4-5 pm. Please scroll down to register yourself for the event. In addition, the newsletter features a recent report by CSE on the growing carbon credit market in India. We hope the newsletter adds to and enriches your classroom discourse in environmental science.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback. Please write to us at sakshi.uniyal@cseindia.org.

Warmly,
The University Programme Team
