NOVEMBER 2023

Dear Educators, FOREWORD

Greetings from CSE’s Green Educators’ Network (GEN)!

We are pleased to share the second edition of ‘Earthwise’ — our monthly newsletter — dedicated to fostering environmental literacy and awareness among educators and students alike.

Our GEN member article this month, written by Dr. Shalini Minz, delves into the complexities of eutrophication with a focus on urban water bodies, shedding light on its causes, far-reaching consequences, and potential solutions. The article offers a detailed analysis in addition to valuable teaching resources and approaches to incorporate this topic into your curriculum effectively. In order to enrich further discussions, the second CSE-GEN Lecture in our monthly series Environmentally Speaking, What ails our urban water bodies and what we can do to protect and restore them? will be held on November 29, 2023 from 4-5 pm. Please scroll down to participate in the event and access relevant resources.

Thank you for your dedication to environmental education. Together, we can cultivate a generation that values and protects our planet. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback. Please write to us at sakshi.uniyal@cseindia.org.

Warmly,
The University Programme Team

WATER
Southwestern Punjab is suffering from high levels of groundwater pollution, gravely affecting the people living in the region, according to a new study. This could be due to intensive agriculture practices and over-exploitation of groundwater due to declining rainfall.
