JANUARY 2024

Dear Educators, FOREWORD

Greetings from the Green Educators’ Network (GEN) of the Centre for Science and Environment!

We present to you the January edition of our monthly newsletter, EarthWise. As advocates for progressive education in environmental studies, we are committed to providing you with a valuable resource that goes beyond the conventional boundaries of learning.

In this edition, we are particularly excited to share a special story on wastepaper circularity contributed by Shobhit Srivastava from CSE's Industrial Pollution Unit. The piece explores the intricacies of wastepaper management, shedding light on the importance of circularity in our approach. As educators shaping the minds of future environmental stewards, we believe that stories like these have the power to inspire thoughtful discussions and instigate positive change within our classrooms.

As we navigate the complexities of environmental studies, we recognise the pivotal role you play in imparting knowledge and fostering a sense of responsibility among your students. In this journey, EarthWise aims to provide you with well-researched articles, resources, and stories to aid your teaching.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback. Please write to us at sakshi.uniyal@cseindia.org.

Warmly,
The University Programme Team

CLIMATE CHANGE
The Union Territory of Ladakh in India’s far north is witnessing an ‘arid winter’ this year. Its effects have already been noticed by locals and experts, who have also warned that the cold desert region will bear the short and long-term repercussions of the snowless season.
