Dear Educators, FOREWORD

Greetings from CSE’s Green Educators’ Network (GEN)!

We present to you the latest edition of our monthly newsletter, EarthWise. As advocates for progressive education in environmental studies, we are committed to providing you with a valuable resource that goes beyond the conventional boundaries of learning.

This month, we are delving into the National Education Policy 2020 recommendations and the latest guidelines on environment education released by UGC. As we navigate the complexities of climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainable development, it becomes imperative to embed environmental consciousness at every level of education. Our newsletter this month features an article on the issue by GEN members Dr R Baskar and Dr Sushmitha Baskar.

We recognise your pivotal role in imparting knowledge and fostering a sense of responsibility among your students. In this journey, EarthWise aims to provide you with well-researched articles, resources, and stories to aid your teaching.

If you wish to provide any feedback or contribute to the newsletter, Please write to us at sakshi.uniyal@cseindia.org.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback!

Warmly,
The University Programme Team

LEAD STORY

In the current climate-risked world, environment education must not only equip learners to identify local as well as global environmental challenges, but also to adapt to them effectively. In this regard, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a welcome first step. It places a strong emphasis on addressing environmental concerns such as climate change, pollution, waste management and conservation of biological diversity. Read what our network members, Dr R Baskar and Dr Sushmitha Baskar have to say on the issue. Down To Earth
