Dear Educators, FOREWORD

Greetings from CSE’s Green Educators’ Network (GEN)!

We present to you the latest edition of our monthly newsletter, EarthWise. As advocates for progressive education in environmental studies, we are committed to providing you with a valuable resource that goes beyond the conventional boundaries of learning.

This month we are conducting the third and final session in our special series — The Educators’ Guide to Environmental Studies. In the culminating session of the series, CSE expert Rajit Sengupta will some pertinent questions about SDGs — How are these global goals implemented? What progress and challenges has India faced in achieving them? What do the SDGs mean for a community or an institution? The session will also delve into data-backed insights, classroom activity ideas as well as teaching resources to equip educators to discuss SDGs in their classrooms.

We recognise your pivotal role in imparting knowledge and fostering a sense of responsibility among your students. In this journey, EarthWise aims to provide you with well-researched articles, resources, and stories to aid your teaching.

If you wish to provide any feedback or contribute to the newsletter, Please write to us at sakshi.uniyal@cseindia.org.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback!

Warmly,
The University Programme Team

LEAD STORY

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are pivotal in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), embedding environmental education to cultivate conscious global citizens. By integrating sustainability into curricula, research, and campus operations, HEIs can foster a new generation equipped to tackle the planet's most pressing challenges. This month’s lead story on SDGs and environment education explores this role of HEIs and provides suggestions on how this can be achieved. Down To Earth
