RAINWATER AVAILABLE FOR HARVESTING
Total rooftop and surface area: 1,250 square metres (sq m)
Average annual rainfall in Delhi: 611.8 millimetres (mm)
Total volume of rainwater harvested:
272 cubic metres (m3) or 2,72,811 litres
Therefore, 60 per cent of the total rooftop and surface runoff is being harvested.
WATER SUPPLY SOURCE
The water requirement for potable and non potable purposes is fulfilled by one bore well located near the main gate.
RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM
The rooftop and surface runoff from the paved area of the farmhouse is collected in a 3 m long, 0.3 m wide and 0.5 m deep collection trench near the main gate. This water is diverted to the abandoned pond of fountain and finally into a recharge well. The recharge well is 1.5 m x 1.5 m x 2 m in size and provided with a recharge bore of 150 mm diameter and 17 m depth. The well is
also filled up with brickbats to ensure better filtration. Similarly part of rooftop rainwater from southern side of the farmhouse is collected in a collection chamber and directed to the samerecharge well.
The implementation was completed in May 2002 and the groundwater level, as in February 2004, was around 34.3 m below ground level (bgl).
The total cost incurred: Rs 0.20 lakh
