Urban India generates 1.5 lakh tonne of municipal solid waste daily; out of which, approximately 50 per cent of this is organic/biodegradable in nature. Biodegradable waste can be conveniently managed in a decentralised system, and can be converted into gainful resources such as compost or biogas after processing through aerobic or anaerobic methods. While the goal of the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 is to create cities that are garbage-free, one of the key drivers to achieve this goal is through low-cost, scientific biodegradable waste management.
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites you to its third online lecture in its Practitioner's Knowledge Building Series to discuss and understand the science and economics of biodegradable waste management, and gain an insight into the utilisation of this waste to ensure financial sustainability. Also on the agenda would be a discussion on the role of citizens and stakeholders who contribute to maintaining the supply chain of end output in organic waste utilisation.
NOTE: This event is for building knowledge and awareness. CSE will not provide any certificate for attendance.
