Countries worldwide are actively deliberating on setting ambitious targets to double energy efficiency by 2030. As a rapidly growing economy, India is intensifying its climate mitigation efforts. The manufacturing and power sectors together account for over 85% of India’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and are also significant contributors to deteriorating air quality in urban areas. Simultaneously, several Indian companies are committing to net-zero targets, underscoring the urgency for effective energy management.
Energy optimization is essential for industries and organizations to minimize fuel consumption, cut operational costs, and reduce carbon emissions. Conducting energy audits is a crucial step in this process, enabling entities—ranging from manufacturing units to commercial establishments like hotels—to assess energy use, identify inefficiencies, and implement strategies to mitigate emissions.
Additionally, India’s Perform, Achieve, Trade (PAT) scheme highlights the importance of energy efficiency by setting mandatory targets for designated industries. By integrating insights from initiatives like PAT, the training ensures participants are well-prepared to contribute to national and global energy efficiency efforts.
In this regard, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organizing a 12-days online course designed to offer a thorough understanding of energy management and auditing and its various elements. The training aims to enable professionals to not just reduce energy costs but also improve the overall environmental performance of the entity. With the skill set provided in this training, an energy professional can assist the entity in preparing a roadmap that will help them to be one step ahead in energy efficiency, emission reduction and the country’s overall climate ambition.
MODE OF TRAINING:
The course is designed in a manner such that participants can attend it along with their regular work. The course will be conducted on the Moodle Platform where participants will be provided with reading / audio-visual training material which they are expected to self-study at their own convenience. Live online sessions will be organized with experts for Q&A and further discussions. The course material will be for 12 days with a duration of 2–3 hrs/day.
