Regional Consultation: Pan-Africa Network on Clean Air Solutions

Leveraging electric mobility and sustainable transport for clean air and low carbon pathways in Africa

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a New Delhi, India based public interest research and advocacy organisation has set up a ‘Pan-Africa Network on Clean Air Solutions’ that brings together key regulators from different countries of Africa to foster knowledge-sharing, cross-learning and South-South experience sharing on emerging good practices in the Africa region. The objective of this forum is promoting good regulatory practices, facilitate exchange of ideas and knowledge sharing on emerging good practices in the region around common concerns and strengthening regulatory capacity in the region to support air pollution mitigation and inform and influence action on common issues.

CSE in collaboration with National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Kenya is organising a Pan-Africa Regional Consultation on September 17-18, 2024 at Hibiscus Hall, Eka Hotel (along Mombasa Road, Southern Bypass Interchange) in Nairobi. This is a consultation workshop to discuss key emerging issues of the African region including air quality, clean vehicle technology, fuel quality, vehicle import policy, electric mobility, sustainable mobility strategies and share good practices.

This workshop will bring together officials from regulatory departments and agencies from Nairobi, Kenya and other African countries to share experiences, good regulatory practices and learn from each other. This South-South Dialogue will bring together the network of African regulators for knowledge and best practice sharing for clean air and climate and to promote evidence based and data driven action to inform implementation strategies. This will make the engagement more purposeful and beneficial to support in-country regulation development, strategy planning and implementation along with a compliance framework. This will make cross learning more effective to chart the roadmap.
