History:
Scenic Panchgani was discovered by the British during British Raj as summer resort, and a superintendent name John Chesson was placed in change of the hill Station in the 1860’s. Panchgani was developed as a retreatment place for the British because it remained pleasant throughout the year.
Population of my town is around 14750 and floating population around 10-12 lacs yearly. In earlier days Panchgani City had problem of garbage collection with 51 staff catering to a floating population of 1 lac at any given time.
Council was using big containers to collect this garbage.
The main draw back of this system was segregation of garbage.
To over come this problem Panchgani Council has taken an initiative to collect garbage in segregated form.
