The silent pandemic of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is increasingly being recognised as one of the biggest threats to global public health, and is expected to disproportionately impact low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). In September earlier this year, the future global action against AMR was discussed at a high level meeting on AMR at the United Nations General Assembly. A political declaration was adopted at this meeting, which reflects a major shift in the global response to the crisis of AMR – by giving adequate importance on prevention aspects
Prevention is the best bet for LMICs which otherwise cannot afford the cost of containing AMR. As part of its campaign to raise awareness on AMR and mark the World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW), Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organising an international webinar to discuss how LMICs can possibly take forward and leverage the prevention aspects in the political declaration. We look forward to seeing you at the webinar.
CSE has been advocating a global AMR response that is in line with challenges and possibilities of Global South. Our work and point of view can be seen HERE
Please note: This is a free Zoom webinar, and registration is open to all. All those who register will receive an automatic confirmation. However, the webinar can accommodate a limited number of attendees on a first come-first served basis only. Therefore, please try to join 5 minutes before the scheduled time.
