About the programme
The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is looking for a Programme Manager to lead its Urban Lab. With the digitalization cities and governments have started to generateenormous volume of data on a daily basis. This big-data dump is currently not being used to its potential to inform and improve the policies and their implementation. Given the need for advance technical and scientific expertise need to skim through this big-data and derive new knowledge to further our advocacy agenda, CSE’s Urban Lab has been set up to undertake this challenge. Objective of the Urban Lab is to inform and improve CSE research on issues related to the urban environment through deep-dive investigation and leveraging big data. The Lab brings together data science and domain knowledge to build new knowledge to support a cleaner and sustainable planet. The current focus areas of the Lab are air quality monitoring, urban heat stress, and seasonal heat waves. The Lab has two flagship products the Air Quality Tracker and Urban Heat Stress Tracker. It is young programme within CSE with potential for growth and expansive scope for research work.
Job Profile
The Urban Lab needs a manager to lead its deep-dive data centric research work.The ideal candidate should have data analytic background with knowledge of the urban and environmental policy landscape. The willingness to overtake and growthe current tracker initiatives and develop new data analytics products to support policy agenda of CSE is critical for the job. The lab also plans to expand its work to include economic assessment of pressing urban and environmental issues. The candidate must be willing to support and nurture this expansive vision for the lab.
