RE Round Table 1: Role of Renewables in Creating Employment Opportunities

This is the first in a series of stakeholder Round Tables being organised by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) on some key issues in renewable energy.

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organising this Round Table to discuss the prospects of job creation with the growing renewable energy deployment; the role of various renewable sub-sectors - manufacturing, utility-scale projects, distributed renewable energy (DRE), etc -- in social and economic upliftment of the people, especially in rural areas; the challenges, such as cultural or gender bias impeding women's enrolment and requirement of skill-development programmes; and a way forward to maximise socio-economic development.

CSE's renewable energy programme has been working extensively to help shape policies and build public awareness to accelerate renewable energy deployment, strengthen energy access for the poor, and facilitate creating opportunities for people for making best use of the technology.
