"Regional Dialogue on Sustainable Buildings" in Bhubaneswar

Centre for Science and Environment  is organizing “Regional Dialogue on Sustainable Buildings” in collaboration with the Bhubaneswar Urban Development Authority (BDA) in Bhubaneswar on December 13 at 9.30 am in Hotel Mayfair. This is an experience dialogue on the strategies on green buildings to improve energy and resource efficiency in building construction and usage. 

This event will convene all concerned stakeholders including the state government officials, architects, town planners, civil society actors, real estate bodies who are involved with building and construction sector and town planning. This initiative is part of our Sustainable Building Programme that is organising a series of interactive and technical workshops for orientation for city regulators in different cities to make our homes, offices and retail resource efficient.

City regulators are now dealing with a wide gamut of regulatory tools that have strong bearing on resource efficiency of the buildings and townships. These include Energy Conservation Building Code for large commercial buildings, building byelaws and National Building Code, Environment Impact Assessment for large buildings and township, among others. This has generated enormous demand for technical know-how and public understanding to steer the implementation process. Cities like Bhubaneswar are already experiencing new and prolific urban growth that will increasingly make demand on energy, water, land resources, transportation, and carrying capacity of the neighbourhoods. New developments have a unique advantage and an opportunity to demonstrate the potential of sustainable planning and design. 

We will deeply appreciate if you are able to join us to share your insights. The event will be organized in Mayfair hotel in Bhubaneswar on December 13, 2013 (9.30 a.m. - 2.00 p.m.) followed by a field trip (3.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.).
