Roundtable on 'German Energiewende - Lessons for India's Solar Rooftop Programme'

Germany has made remarkable progress in deployment of renewable energy. This energy transformation or ‘Energiewende’ from fossil fuel to renewable energy is attributed to German policies with particular focus on feed-in tariffs. It has encouraged solar rooftop installations and as of Dec 2013, Germany had an installed capacity of 8.7 gigawatts (GW) of solar rooftop.

CSE strongly believes that since India is on the phase of rapid renewable energy growth especially rooftop solar, there are many things to learn from the German experience. This meeting is to understand this experience and have discussion between Indian stakeholders and officials working for Germany’s Energiewende.

Mr. Uwe Beckmeyer, Parliamentary State Secretary, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy would be speaking at the event. He would be accompanied by other senior officials and experts from Germany.
