Single-Use Plastic Ban

India banned 21 items of single-use plastic (SUP) on July 1, 2022. This variety – manufactured with the ‘use-and-throw’ ideology — is a menace to the planet. The waste plastic accumulates on land and in water bodies at a staggering rate and pollutes the environment for centuries to come.

Has the ban worked? In all probability, it hasn’t. What are the reasons? Many of the banned items are still in circulation. It’s clear that phasing out SUPs from our lives will take more than a ban. We must become part of a systemic change and move from a throwaway economy to a circular one. But how do we move forward? What can educational institutions do to #BeatPlasticPollution?

To explore answers to these and other such questions, join us for an online session with Siddharth Ghanshyam Singh of Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). Participants who attend the complete Zoom session will receive a certificate from CSE. Confirm your participation by filling out the form below.
