CSE’s Green Educators’ Network (GEN) invites its members to an exclusive session on the State of India’s Environment 2025 on March 28, 2025 at 4 PM. Richard Mahapatra and Kiran Pandey from CSE will share insights and crucial data points from the major findings of the book.
In 1982, Centre for Science and Environment, under the guidance of Founder-Director Anil Agarwal, published The Citizens’ First Report on the State of India’s Environment. It was the first major study from the civil society of a developing country which argued that developing countries must ensure that environmental conservation goes hand in hand with economic development. The Citizens’ Reports were precursors to the annual State of India’s Environment (SOE) reports. From its first edition in 2014, SOE has now become the country’s most trusted report on environmentrelated events and developments. Backed by four decades of research and publishing history, exhaustive data and well-researched facts on a wide array of contemporary environmental issues have become the hallmark of the annual report. The 12th edition of the report, State of India’s Environment 2025, was launched in February at the Anil Agarwal Dialogue 2025 — CSE’s annual conclave for journalists writing and reporting on environment and development
The session on the state of India’s environment will provide an opportunity for educators to engage in a deep-dive discussion on key environmental trends and challenges. Network members are also welcome to nominate students to attend the session.
