Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) is essential for safeguarding public health and ensuring environmental sustainability by managing faecal waste from households, institutions, and industries. As sanitation and wastewater management gain increasing importance in India, FSSM has become crucial in standardizing the practices related to the collection, transportation, treatment, and disposal of faecal sludge and septage.
While significant strides have been made in the technological aspects of FSS treatment, new challenges are emerging, particularly in the areas of operations and maintenance (O&M). These challenges pose questions about the sustainability of treatment processes and infrastructure. It has become evident that many stakeholders involved in FSSM have limited understanding of the O&M requirements for these treatment processes of FSTPs or co-treatment plants. Therefore, Department of Urban Development, Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), is organizing a training program aimed at enhancing the O&M process and embedding sustainability at its core.
Aim of the training: The aim of this training is to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of O&M for Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs) and Co-treatment plants in Uttar Pradesh.
This training program will equip the participants with the knowledge needed to:
