A training programmetitled ‘Sustainable Building Design Processes’ was conducted at AAETI from May 27-30. The participants, 52 in number, included faculty and students from the IES College of Architecture in Mumbai. The three-day training spanned issues and concerns such as challenges of urbanisation in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Cooling Action Plan; the various building codes and rating systems currently in existence; the types of wastes generated in the built environment and how architects can tackle the issue at neighbourhood and building levels; optimization of the third skin (building envelope and micro climate) through an understanding of thermal comfort and building physics; and techniques of ensuring energy efficiency in the building sector. The college representatives showed a keen interest in continuing the association with CSE in the future.
