The Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a blueprint for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all. Adopted by the UN Member States in 2015, these goals address global challenges, including poverty, quality education, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice. Since then, the SDGs have provided an overarching framework for actions at the global, national, and local levels
In the culminating session of our special series, The Educators’ Guide to Environmental Studies, CSE expert Rajit Sengupta will explore some pertinent questions about SDGs — How are these global goals implemented? What progress and challenges has India faced in achieving them? What do the SDGs mean for a community or an institution? The session will also delve into data-backed insights, classroom activity ideas as well as teaching resources to equip educators to discuss SDGs in their classrooms.
