The Scheme of Assistance for Abatement of Pollution was conceptualized during the 7thFive-Year Plan with the main objective to strengthen the Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB) and State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) / State Pollution Control Committees(SPCCs) for enforcing statutory provisions of pollution abatement.

Environmental issues like climate change, water availability, pollution, waste generation and disposal are commanding considerable global attention. Industries, as a major user of raw materials and energy and source of pollution and waste generation, have a major role in addressing current and emerging environmental issues.
THE NEXT STEP
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) in collaboration with Greentech Knowledge Solution Private Ltd. (GKSPL) organized a workshop on ‘Roadmap for Cleaner Clay-Fired Brick Production in India’ on 8th June at New Delhi. The objective of the workshop was to discuss the technological and regulatory road map which needs to be developed to overcome the problems in transforming the brick sector of the country. What needs to be done and how it can be achieved?
