HC directs Centre to get toxic waste tested at any lab

Jabalpur, Dec 20: In the wake of Nagpur-based DRDO lab refusing to conduct tests on samples of toxic waste lying at the defunct Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday directed the Centre to get it tested in any lab in the country and submit report to the court in three weeks.

PCB tells HPCL to cut output

VISAKHAPATNAM, Dec 17: The AP State Pollution Control Board (PCB) has imposed a 30% cut in the production of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) on account of its failure to adher to emission norms. Member-secretary M Dana Kishore issued the orders to the refinery to restrict crude processing to 70% of permitted capacity and process only low sulphur crudes having sulphur content of less than 0.5% during winter season.

90% of 'freshwater' in India carries waste!
