Training Programme on Septage Management: Towards Citywide Sanitation: December 7-9, 2015
Date: 7-9 December, 2015 ‘Septage’ is both solid and liquid waste that accumulates in onsite sanitation systems (OSS) e.g. septic tanks. This has three main components – scum, effluent and sludge. It has an offensive odour, appearance and contains significant levels of grease, grit, hair, debris and pathogenic micro organisms. The construction and management of OSS are left largely to ineffective local practices and there is lack of holistic septage management practices.
Date: October 26-29, 2015, Bangkok UNESCO-IHE, CSE and other global partners are undertaking a BMGF funded project on sanitation entitled ‘Stimulating Local Innovation on Sanitation for the Urban Poor in sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia’. The project has two principal objectives:

The second handholding training on the “Preparation of City Sanitation Plan (CSP)- Part II” took place at Fortune Hotel, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh from October 14-16, 2015. The training is a part of a three stage handholding process for the preparation of CSPs for Andhra Pradesh, followed by a review workshop. The first training on ‘Preparation of City Sanitation Plan - Part 1' was held from July 1-3, 2015 at Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI), Hyderabad.
WRC Research Development and Innovation Symposium and Water Tech Summit organised by Water Research Commission, South Africa was held at Johannesburg from 16-18 Sept. 2015. Dr Suresh Rohilla, Programme Director – Water Management , delivered a keynote address on 'Climate Change, Sanitation and Water Resources' in the plenary session at the symposium on 17th Sept. 2015. The international event was attended by over 500 key water sector professional, decision makers, researchers and NGOs. The symposium attracted participants from 20 countries.
Stockholm World Water Week 2015 was held from 23-27 August 2015 at Stockholm Conference Centre, Sweden. This year was a silver jubilee celebration year of Stockholm Water Prize and the Stockholm Water Prize was conferred to ShriRajendraSingh,for his water conservation work (revival of ponds, rivers) in rural Rajasthan (AlwarDistt.)- http://www.worldwaterweek.org/prizes-awards/#stockholm-water-prize.
