Training Programme on Inspection and Monitoring of Brick Kilns

Date: February 13-14, 2020

The performance of brick kilns have been questioned since the last decade with respect to both energy efficiency and air pollution. In order to regulate the pollution footprint of the sector, several regulations have been forced upon the sector either by National Green Tribunal (NGT) or through central and state government policies in the recent past. The matter of concern arises now as to how these regulations would bring results on the ground with respect to air pollution and energy efficiency in brick kilns. In order to ensure effective implementationof these regulations on the ground, it is essential to measure progress through inspection and monitoring.

CSE believes that strong technical knowledge about brick kilns is the base for their inspection and monitoring to understand the loopholes which need to be addressed and rectified. With the view to capacitate the regulatory officers and other departments associated with the brick kiln sector, CSE is conducting a two (02) day training programme on ‘Inspection and Monitoring of Brick kilns’ on February 13-14, 2020. The programme will discuss about different technologies for clay brick manufacturing with prime focus on retrofitting of existing FCBTK to Zig Zag kilns, inspection of converted kilns and the tools for verification of conversion from FCBTK to zigzag. The classroom discussions will be backed up by field visit to brick kilns in order to provide a hands on experience to the participants.
