Webinar on Replacement of small boilers with common steam boilers in Industrial Areas

CSE in the month of June released its report on “Assessment of Industrial Air Pollution in Delhi-NCR”. Based on the analysis of the various industrial areas located in the seven districts of the neighbouring states of Delhi, it came to light that more than 50 percent of the boilers in these industrial areas are small boilers (<2 tonnes per hour). The main purpose of these boilers is to fulfil the steam requirement of the industry, but at the same time, these are highly fuel intensive, inefficient and polluting in nature. More so, PM emission standards for small boilers are quite relaxed. Thus, even if these boilers are meeting applicable standards, pollution load from them will be high. It is in view of this that CSE recommended the replacement of small boilers with common boiler facilities to cater to the steam requirements of the industries within an industrial cluster. 

Common boilers are centralized systems that cater to the demand of steam generation of member industrial units by establishing a steam pipeline network within an industrial area. To take this recommendation forward, CSE has now published a report "Replacement of Small Boilers with common Steam Boilers in Industrial Areas" to assess the feasibility of common boiler installations for the industries.  

In this regard, CSE is organizing a webinar on 27^th July, 2020 at 1100 hrs to share the detailed findings of the report with the Industries, industrial associations, development agency and corporations in an industrial area, regulators and common boiler service providers. It will be followed by detailed discussions on the common boilers.
