Workshop on roadmap for solid and septage management in Muzaffarpur city, 15th December, 2016

Muzaffarpur Nagar Nigam and Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi invite nominations to attend the workshop on 'Roadmap for Solid and Septage Management in Muzaffarpur City', 15th December, 2016, in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.

The objective of this meeting is to discuss the roadmap for solid and septage management in Muzaffarpur City. CSE conducted field surveys in August, 2016 on solid and septage management in Muzaffarpur city. On the basis of this, an action plan is developed for reforms in waste and septage management.

Muzaffarpur city is divided into 49 wards. The town generates about 170 metric tonnes of waste daily. Per capita waste generation is close to 300 grams/person/day. Also, septage management is a big challenge in the town.

It is clear that waste management needs to be reinvented in our cities. The meeting shall discuss the existing situation of Muzaffarpur in terms of solid waste and septage management and what model can be adopted to curb this.
